“Liz takes the initiative to go above and beyond both personally and professionally.”

Corporate client

I’m Liz Richards O’Leary — wife, person mom & dog mom, editor, writer, and shamelessly book-obsessed.

Welcome to my editorial site!

I am honored to work with nonfiction authors who are ready to transform their stories and experiences into a book.

I specialize in nonfiction: self-help, memoir, how-to, spirituality, business, and personal development. I also edit fiction on a case-by-case basis.

My journey as a professional in the publishing industry began in 2022. I’ve worked on staff in corporate publishing and in a broad array of freelance roles. I’ve received certificates, training, and continuing education as an editor from the Poynter Institute, ACES Society for Editing, the Editorial Freelancers Association, the Freelance Editor’s Club, and more.

As an editor, ghostwriter, and consultant, my previous clients include psychologists, PhDs, executives, educators, entrepreneurs, historians, spiritualists, and memorists.

I’ve had the privilege of working with many first-time authors, guiding them through the editing process and helping them understand the ins and outs of book production and the publishing industry. From explaining the difference between self-publishing and traditional routes to walking them through what happens after the manuscript is finished, I enjoy demystifying the journey and empowering authors to make informed decisions about their books.

I follow the best practices and cadence established by the Editorial Freelancers Association and the ACES Society for Editing. I use the latest edition of the Chicago Manual of Style and any pertinent targeted style guides.

Whether you're just starting your manuscript or deep in the weeds of revision, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and heart.

Your story is powerful.
